If you’re wondering how many people to bring with you to a wedding dress shopping appointment, you’re in the right place. Today, we’re sharing our best tips for who and how many people brides should bring with them to try on and purchase a wedding gown. When it comes to finding your dream wedding dress, you don’t want to go alone, but there is a certain point where too many people (and opinions) is unhelpful.
We’ve been helping brides find their perfect wedding dress at our store in Olympia, WA for over 40 years and we can’t wait to work with you!
How Many To Bring
When you’re wedding dress shopping, we recommend that you bring along no more than four adults to Weddings With Joy. We have space in our bridal boutique for four adults to relax and enjoy the show while you try on wedding dresses. Our bridal stylists want to make this a joyful experience for you and your guests. With a limit of four adult guests, in addition to yourself, we can help to make this a successful shopping trip for you and your guests who are there to support you.
In addition to space being an issue with numbers of people while wedding dress shopping, you also want to consider opinions. With each guest, comes a new and different opinion about the wedding dresses you’re trying on.
With more people it can be confusing and overwhelming for you, the bride, to find your dream wedding dress. Ultimately, it comes down to how you feel in a wedding dress and only you can decide that for yourself. Guests can let you know their opinion of how a dress looks on you and what features they like or don’t like about a certain dress style, but they won’t know how you feel. W
At Weddings With Joy, we always recommend that our brides keep their shopping guest list as small as possible for space reasons within the store, and, most importantly, to help keep it a stress-free experience for our brides.
Who To Bring
Speaking of guests, brides often have questions about who they should bring with them when they go wedding dress shopping. Should they bring their family? Their soon-to-be family? Their entire wedding party? Friends? Co-workers?
Space for many guests to sit down and be comfortable in a bridal boutique is an issue, but so are opinions as we just discussed. Therefore keeping your guests to a limited number of people whose opinion you value and trust, is the best possible thing for brides to do.
Besides, you want everyone to be surprised and excited to see you on your wedding day in your entire wedding outfit! Keep your wedding dress a secret by limiting your number of guests while shopping. Imagine the bridesmaid or wedding party revealed on your wedding day when your closest family and friends get to see you in your wedding dress for the first time. It will be pure magic!
Think carefully about those opinions and perspectives that you trust the most. The people who know you the best are who you should invite to your wedding dress shopping appointment.
What About Kids
We love the little ones and we love kids! However, having kids in the bridal shop when you’re wedding dress shopping can be tough on everyone involved. We have lots of dresses and accessories around the store, which can be difficult and confusing for kids. Plus, it can be hard for you – the bride – to focus on the task at hand. Having children present takes the attention away from what everyone came to do, which is find you a wedding dress!
Even if you have a babysitter or a family member who has said they will keep an eye on the children, being patient while you try on dresses tends to be a lot for the kids to handle and it doesn’t make for an enjoyable experience for anyone, including the kids, which is why we always recommend that the kid stay at home for wedding dress shopping.
Politely Limit Your Guests
If you’re wondering how to limit your entourage when going wedding dress shopping, but you want to do it in a kind, non-confrontational way, please feel free to use us as an excuse for keeping your guest list small.
As we’ve discussed, we generally recommend inviting a very limited number of guests with you shopping for your wedding dress. If you have a large group, you can simply let them know that the store won’t allow a large viewing party.
It’s our little gift to you and we’ll keep it between us!
Cheers!
